On January 20, 2009, Barack Hussein Obama, who had characterized conservatives almost a year earlier, in April 2008, as people who “cling to guns or religion” became President. He is the first sitting President whose views on the Christian faith and whose own faith background, that of being raised as a Muslim, was so dissimilar to that of our history and heritage. He further described conservatives as anti-social and as possessing an “antipathy to people who aren’t like them.” In truth, he was describing himself and the policies of his administration. Liberals loved him. He was left of Ted Kennedy – and that is somewhere beyond Venus. Obviously, he is from another world, another culture, another ideological sphere; he does not ‘know us.’ Never, had a Presidential candidate been so forward on his disdain for people of a conservative Christian faith. Yet, his statement was barely noted by much of the media who share his views, both about guns and Christianity. On examination, the charge, especially from a Presidential candidate, was stunning; and in view of such a posture, his election was then breathtaking. It represented a national shift away from Christianity, to pluralism as the official posture of the state, and beyond that – who knows where the nation will go. The entrenched view is reflected in the President’s policies. He has not reached out to Christian conservatives. Attempts by the right to connect with him, by those he would charge as ‘clinging’ to their faith, have been rejected. The Presidential Prayer Team which previously had a direct connection with the White House was spurned. He is the only President in modern times to make the White House off-limits to a National Day of Prayer service, a day of prayer established by federal law. His own ‘antipathy’ toward Christians, specifically evangelicals, has been unmistakable, while his accommodations toward Muslims have been equally pronounced in a favorable manner.
It took no time for his liberal social and moral policies to become apparent. In January 2009, Obama’s nominee for deputy secretary of state asserted that American taxpayers were required to pay for abortions, conscience and faith notwithstanding, and then further asserted that limits on the federal funding of abortions were unconstitutional. This is manufactured law; and bad law; and law contrary to God’s Law. It is Lex Rex, the king makes the law; he is not subject to it. To make their position clear, the Obama administration then lifted its restrictions on funding abortion services internationally, which placed taxpayer dollars in the hands of pro-abortion groups around the world. The dollars-for-death-values policy has now become a standard. By July 2010, the Obama administration was very open with their pro-abortion agenda. With no one to challenge them, they proceeded to use federal funds as a kind of ‘bribe’ in violation of federal law, to force the nation of Kenya to change its constitution to include abortion rights. This is shocking. Virtually none of this was reported by the press. Neither the congress nor senate, both under the control of the Democratic Party, made much noise about the matter.
In February 2009, the President proceeded to announce plans to revoke conscience protection for health care workers who had previously been excused if the medical activities were against their personal beliefs. The outcry of Christians, the long-standing national tradition and idea of a ‘conscience clause,’ rooted in Biblical values, did not affect the President. In times past, the nation has always respected issues of conscience rooted in faith, even in times of war, and even with exotic religious groups, but that era appears to be over – specifically over, in reference to Christians. Not Muslims. What the President announced, he then implemented in February 2011. The next month, the White House sponsored a health care summit, but it shut out pro-life groups from even attending. Penalized for their beliefs, they were banned, and by an administration that has consistently claimed openness and fairness. Early in the Obama tenure, it was becoming clear, that the one group that would be excluded in this ‘open’ administration would be conservative Christian people. And he has made it clear, that government power and values trump Christian values and practices; and that his government will compel people to act according to its values, against conscience.
Unchallenged, in March 2009, Obama ordered taxpayer funding of embryonic stem cell research. That had been off the table by previous administrations. By September 2010, the administration grew even bolder. They instructed researchers to actually ignore a judge’s decision which struck down federal funding for embryonic stem cell research. Here is the President, acting in legal defiance of the U. S. Court system, when it displeases him. Of course, this kind of action is not that of a Citizen-President, but of a Rogue King, a revolutionary who operates, for now, at the boundary of the Law; but shows contempt and the potential for lethal damage to the Constitution. He gave $50 million to UNFPA, the UN population agency that promotes abortion around the world. This is the same agency that has worked closely with Chinese population control officials who continue to use forced abortions, gender selective abortions and involuntary sterilizations for population control. Two months later, in May 2009, the White House budget eliminated all the funding for the effective abstinence-only education programs in public schools and replaced it with “comprehensive” sexual education, which has repeatedly proven to actually increase teen pregnancies and abortions. The mad cycle is – induce pregnancies by valueless education; then provide a state-funded abortion with or without the knowledge or consent of parents. The budget deletion has continued in subsequent budgets. That same month, May 2009, the Obama officials did an amazing thing. They assembled a terrorism dictionary, and in it, they classified pro-life advocates as violent and charged them with racism and their activities as “criminal.”
Every President is called on to issue proclamations. Hundreds are signed each year. Among them, traditionally, have been Biblical holidays and events. This administration avoids such opportunities to connect the Office of the President with Christian traditions, but regularly recognizes major Muslim holidays as evidenced by its 2010 statements on Ramadan, Eid-ul-Fitr, Hajj, and Eid-ul-Adha. In May 2009, evangelicals watched in amazement as Obama did not choose to host a National Day of Prayer event, a Christian event, at the White House as previous Presidents had done. He instead hosted a White House Iftar dinner in honor of the Muslim Ramadan.
In April 2009, when he spoke on the campus of Georgetown University, he ordered that a monogram which symbolized the name of Jesus be covered. He obviously did not even want to share a camera view with anything resembling the Christian faith, and specifically Jesus. Such acts are mystifying, given the nation’s Christian heritage. They are a part of a pattern, not of indifference, but of outright hostility, and not to faith, because Obama continues to emphasize a national posture of ‘pluralism.’ Rather, he and his administration are hostile to the Christian faith. In the same month, he nominated three ambassadors to the Vatican. But this was not an overture of grace. Not one, but all three ambassadors were pro-abortion. His choices were nothing less than an act of disrespect for the ‘life’ values of Catholicism. The Vatican, justly, rejected all three nominees. With that act, the administration could claim that it had complied, that it had reached out, but had met with resistance by the Church. In truth, it had negatively orchestrated the rejection, placing the Church in an untenable situation. It is manipulation of the political process at best, relational sabotage and disregard, if not outright blasphemy. This has been the pattern – to offer a tainted olive branch; a flawed piece of legislation; a meeting with some untenable component in the mix, and then allege that the other side is uncooperative.
In July 2009, with the Defense of America act still in force as the law of the land, the Obama administration illegally extended federal benefits to same-sex partners of Foreign Service and Executive Branch employees. These ‘we are above the law’ and have the right to make it up as we go; or choose which laws we will live by is now characteristic. On September 16, 2009, the Obama administration appointed Chai Feldblum as EEOC Commissioner. Feldblum promptly asserted his philosophy, which was zero tolerance of any beliefs that negatively affected the homosexual agenda. According to Feldblum, society should “not tolerate” even “private beliefs,” including those rooted in faith, if they might negatively affect homosexual “equality.” Not only does such a view offend the right of free speech; it is an introduction of Orwell’s world, Big Brother Government thought control. Only in totalitarian states are such things even proposed. Here, they are now being proposed and executed. In February 2011, Obama directed the Justice Department to completely stop defending the federal Defense of Marriage Act. This was, however, still the law of the land. And as such, it was and is the responsibility of the Executive Branch, with the Justice Department to enforce such laws. When the President usurps the Legislative right to create law, and subverts law – there is a balance of powers issue. All laws must be honored – this is the only way a ‘nation of laws’ can survive. It is the nature of liberals to want to relax the boundaries of laws, to stretch their edges; but it is not normal liberalism that subverts the rule of law – that is anarchy. Obama has chosen to not to enforce the law if he did not support it. And he has subverted the law. The ‘spirit’ of lawlessness has been loosed in his whole administration. On September 30, 2011, the Pentagon directed military chaplains that they could perform same-sex marriages at military facilities even though such an act was illegal, and in violation of the federal Defense of Marriage Act. Both the Executive Branch, the highest office in the land, and its military were now in defiance of the Congress and the Court. Such an act is treasonous. Revolutionary – and of course, it is precisely a revolution that we are experiencing, one that is both spiritual and moral, as well as political, even if that component is stealth at this point.
In April 2010, Franklin Graham was disinvited to the Pentagon’s National Day of Prayer Event because of comments he had made about the Muslim community. In the same month, President Obama ordered a revision of government documents and a specific change in any vocabulary deemed offensive to Muslims. Words like – jihad, jihadists, terrorists, radical Islamic, and the like were removed. While Muslims were given a pass, a Department of Homeland Security official lexicon equates now equates jihadi extremists with “Christian patriots” and “Constitutionlists.” The war of terror, on Muslim extremist in his administration; has become a war on Christians, and potentially on Israel. On March 25, 2009, the Obama Administration officially ordered the Pentagon, and others, to cease the use of the term ‘war’ in reference to their operations in Muslim Countries. They preferred more ambiguous terms, “… this administration prefers to avoid using the term Long War or Global War On Terror …” It was a clear message to Muslim nations – this will not be a long stay under this President; and we are not at war with you or any other element among you. With Obama, the “global war on terror” was dead, and in its place were “overseas contingency operations.” In August 2010, he offered great praise for Islam. And then, though it may have been a gaff, on October 19, 2010, while quoting the Declaration of Independence, Obama omitted the phrase that referenced Genesis 1, “… the Creator.” Allah is in; Elohim is out. The liberal media responded by ignoring the matter as an easily understood and innocent mistake. However, the omission has now been made by the President on no less than seven occasions. A month later, in November, he identified the U. S. National Motto as “E Pluribus Unum.” Of course, the National Motto is actually, “In God We Trust.” The difference is more than slight. “Out of many – one!’ is a declaration of diversity, pluralism; and the unity that allows such diversity to exist together is the One God, and one set of values. Liberals, however, have long believed that moral order can be sustained without God, that we can borrow his moral codes, that is, the parts we like; and jettison the God who authored the moral code. Our National Motto was established by federal law, something Obama obviously knew but chose to ignore, as if he, by fiat decree, by declaration, could affect the change.
During August 2010, President Obama spoke out on multiple occasions in behalf of building an Islamic mosque at Ground Zero. There had not been one at or near the site before. Muslims – and they were Muslims – driven by their faith, attacked the US and its citizenry with the desire to bring down the nation, and they are to be given a place, to further that philosophy at the very site they ruthlessly attacked. At the same time, he and members of his administration were silent about the struggles of a Christian church being denied permission to rebuild at that location. In January 2011, a federal law was passed to transfer a WWI Memorial in the Mojave Desert to private ownership. The U. S. Supreme Court surprisingly ruled that the cross in the memorial could continue to stand, but then the Obama administration, apparently surprised by the Court’s decision moved to refuse to allow the land to be transferred as required by law, and thereby, they refused to allow the cross to be re-erected as ordered by the Court. It was both an act of disrespect to the cross and to the Christian faith; and another act of defiance against the Court itself – all to the end that it assists their crusade against Christians.
In the past, the State Department has had a religious freedom ambassador who worked against global religious persecution, most of it against Christians around the world; and most of that at the hands of Muslims. However, Obama left the post open for two years. It was not a priority for him. Despite the fact that more than 400 Christians have died daily around the world under his watch – and that number now totals some half-million. Finally, after heavy pressure from the public and the congress, and in view of the global crisis, he filled the post. Interestingly enough, much of the violence is Islam on Christians.
In March 2011, concerns were raised about Planned Parenthood videos and a loophole that allowed sex traffickers to obtain abortions for victimized underage girls. The Obama administration refused to investigate the matter.
In April 2011, a first in American history occurred. Obama urged passage of a non-discrimination law that did not contain hiring exemptions and protections for religious groups. It forced on religious organizations the hiring mandates of the federal government without regard to the dictates of their own faith, thus eliminating conscience protection in hiring.
In June 2011, the Obama Administration’s Department of Veterans Affairs forbad references to God and Jesus during burial ceremonies, during funerals, at Houston National Cemetery. The restriction of religious language at a funeral is stunning. For other reason does a family gather, than to pray and commit a life to God. This is at the very heart of the first amendment, freedom of speech, specifically religious speech. The rationale seemed to be that the services were being conducted on federal land. But isn’t federal land the property of the people? That is not an adequate explanation, nor is the assertion that the chaplains are under the umbrella of the Government, as if the government chaplains represented a different faith or no faith. Neither ideas are excusable – but they are telling of what is coming. In August 2011, Obama released the new health care rules that clearly override religious conscience protections for medical workers in the areas of abortion and contraception.
In July 2011, Obama acted to allow homosexuals to serve openly in the military, reversing a policy originally instituted by George Washington in March 1778. In August 2011, the Air Force terminated the teaching of the ‘Just War’ theory to officers in California. The course was taught by chaplains and rises out of the teachings of St. Augustine. In September 2011, as a matter of policy, the Air Force Chief of Staff prohibited its commanders from notifying airmen of programs and services available to them from chaplains. In the same month, the new guidelines at Walter Reed Medical Center stipulated by the Army declared that “No religious items (i.e. Bibles, reading materials and/or facts) were allowed to be given away or used during a visit.” In November 2011, Obama opposed the inclusion of President Franklin Roosevelt’s famous D-Day Prayer in the WWII Memorial. In a similar vein, one visiting the Martin Luther King Memorial which was dedicated later would hardly know the man was a preacher. He is referred to as “Dr.” He holds not Bible in his hand, but rolled up papers, perhaps a speech, and by inference – no sermon. No scriptures are quoted on the walls of his Memorial. The Memorial that supposedly references a movement for liberty born out of faith, and inspired by Scripture, led by a preacher, happening in churches, has been sanitized by the Obama Administration.
Unlike previous presidents, Obama avoids religious references in his Thanksgiving speeches. The distance between American holidays, actually holy-days, and their Christian roots have deepened in his time in the White House. With Christmas approaching, 2011, his Air Force Academy rescinded their support for Operation Christmas Child, a program with which they had partnered to send Christmas gifts to impoverished children across the world. They did so on the grounds that the program was run by a Christian charity. Cooperation, between the U. S. Armed Services and any Christian organization, even for noble charitable causes, was inappropriate. The hostility is breathtaking. In October 2011, the Obama administration then moved to also eliminate federal grants to the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops, funds that were used in an extensive program that provided aid to victims of human trafficking, not because the program was not effective, but because the Catholic Church was not monolithically aligned with their agenda, specifically, they were anti-abortion, and the administration chose to end other partnerships. With this administration, it is all or nothing; their way, or no way. Almost simultaneously, the Air Force Academy paid $80,000 to create a pagan worship center, similar to Stonehenge in order to accommodate the pagans, druids, witches and Wiccans.
During October 2011, Obama’s Muslim advisers – that correct, not Christian, certainly not conservative Christians, but Muslims, blocked the attempt of Middle Eastern Christians’ to access to the White House. They have been under pressure from Muslim groups in that area. The American Muslims did not want their story told, or aid granted. In December 2011, the Obama administration denigrated nations whose religious beliefs were an obstacle to his radical homosexual agenda.
In January 2012, two years after entering the office, the Obama administration set forth a stunning argument before the Supreme Court. Churches should not have the right, based on the First Amendment, to hire pastors and/or rabbis, etc. according to their own tenets and beliefs. Essentially, their position erased all lines between the church and the state, so as to allow the state, to coop churches, prescribe their faith, dictate leadership criteria. Though they lost, the fact that they took such a radical position is beyond remarkable. According to this President and his Administration, the First Amendment provides no protection for churches and synagogues in hiring their pastors and rabbis. Don’t think for a moment that the administration is insensitive to faith concerns. In February 2012, the Obama administration made effulgent apologies for Korans being burned by the U. S. military, but when Bibles were burned by the military, numerous reasons were offered why it was the right thing to do.
In February 2012, the Obama administration forgave student loans in exchange for public service, but announced it would not forgive student loans if the public service was related to religion. The Army also ordered Catholic chaplains, who serve their church, to disobey their archbishop, and not read a letter to parishioners sent to them for public reading by the archbishop. Here was a clear issue of government intervention, of the direct usurping of ecclesiastical authority by the Obama administration. And the U. S. Military Academy at West Point disinvited s three star Army general and decorated war hero Lieutenant General William G. (“Jerry”) Boykin (retired) from speaking at an event simply because he was an outspoken Christian. In the same month, the Air Force removed “God” from the patch of Rapid Capabilities Office, the word had appeared in Latin: Dei).
In April 2012, in small incremental, but steady ways, the war against Christianity continued by the Air Force, in their removal from the checklist at Air Force Inns, to no longer insure that a Bible was available in rooms for those who wanted to use them. In June 2012, the Obama Administration made another change. Since the Revolutionary War, the Government has printed Bibles for its soldiers, but the Obama Administration has revoked the long-standing policy of placing military service emblems on these Bibles.
In May 2012, the Obama administration opposed legislation to protect the rights of conscience for military chaplains who did not wish to perform same-sex marriages in violation of their strongly-held religious beliefs. The action made it clear that the Obama administration would not be content to have chaplains who would perform such ceremonies; it would not have chaplains who would not perform the ceremonies. Such monolithic imposition of such radical values is unprecedented in the United States. It is a crusade against conscience, against Biblical Christianity and Christian chaplains.
Most recently, when the Israeli Prime Minister requested a meeting, it was declined, while plans to meet with a leader of the Muslim Brotherhood remained on the table. The Muslim Brotherhood is considered the father of the jihadi movement. The recent violence in both Egypt and Libya were in manner of speaking sparked by the President’s policies, naïve or purposeful, perhaps only God knows. President Mubarak had been successful at bringing stability to Egypt, and peace between them and Israel, no attacks by Arab states on Israel for thirty years. That reached back to the 1979 Camp David accords which neutralized Egypt as a key player in Arab hostilities toward Israel. To accomplish this goal, Mubarak had marginalized the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt. They had no control, little influence. To encourage that policy, Egypt was receiving a billion and a half U. S. dollars a year. And it was a stabilizing influence in the region. Then Obama came along. The State Department took the position that the Muslim Brotherhood was no longer radical, but moderate. In fact, systematically, the Muslim Brotherhood has been placing operatives in key positions throughout the Obama administration. Michelle Bachman has raised unheeded alarms, noting that State Department polices “appear to be a result of influence operations conducted by individuals and organizations associated with the Muslim Brotherhood.” In fact, she specifically asked about Huma Abedin, Hillary Clinton’s closest adviser at State, who formerly worked for a Brotherhood organization, founded and funded by Abdullah Naseef, who also finances al-Qaeda. There is no question that Abedin helps Clinton formulate U.S. Middle East policy.
The President himself made a trip to Cairo in 2009, a visit in which he did not go to Jerusalem – a clear signal of where his heart and support would lie. He influenced Mubarak to reach out to the Brotherhood, in fact, he arguably empowered them. In Egypt, he apologized for our “war on terror,” for the “fear and anger” of Americans after 9/11 that “led us to act contrary to our ideals.” He placated. He expressed more than regret. Now Mubarak, the moderate is dead, and the Muslim Brotherhood is in power. But there is more. The Obama administration is preparing to give the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt a massive $1-billion bailout. This places the totalitarian Muslim Brotherhood regime over Egypt, and positions them as an ally of the Obama administration. And all the while, the Muslim Brotherhood there is not wrapping itself in the American flag, rather they moved immediately to strengthen their ties with the communist Chinese dictatorship. Expect genocide to be orchestrated, without US interference or the mainstream media’s reporting, of Christians in Egypt. Expect heightened antipathy toward Israel. In addition to forgiving the $1 billion in Egyptian government debt, one-third of the amount owed, Obama is lobbying the International Monetary Fund (IMF) — primarily funded by American taxpayers — for another $5-billion loan. And, U.S. officials are also creating funding programs to the tune of half-a-billion to assist Egyptian businesses in addition to regular “security” and “foreign aid” support, around $1.5 billion annually. The State Department is laying plans to lead a delegation of business executives to Egypt to encourage investment there. Egyptian President Mohammed Morsi is not a moderate. He is a radical Islamist from the socialist-oriented Muslim Brotherhood. And our President put him in office. His first international visit was not to a Western nation, but to Beijing. He is warm toward Iran as well.
There is also indication that Obama is working with the Muslim Brotherhood in Syria. A military official reported to a conservative news outlet, with concern about the potential Egypt-Syrian linkage, and collaboration of Syrian opposition and three al-Qaida arms – the Jund al-Sham made up of al-Qaida militants who are Syrian, Palestinian and Lebanese; the Jund al-Islam recently merged with Ansar al-Islam; and the Jund Ansar al-Allah group in in Gaza with connections to Palestinian camps in Lebanon and Syria. The military officer alleges that support and weapons intended for the Syrian opposition are in fact being transferred to jihadist allies in both northern Lebanon and Iraq. The U.S government is now borrowing over $1 trillion per year. Interventionism has rarely been more aggressive. We are propping up and taking down regimes around the world, all in the spirit of the Arab Spring. From stable Kenya, to Libya, Egypt and Syria and more.
President Obama fought Congress on the issue of economic sanctions against Iran. He has ignored their potential threat to Israel and the region. In an amazing speech in France, Obama, much earlier in his administration, he declared that America must make “deep cuts in our nuclear arsenal,” without which we don’t have “the moral authority to say to Iran, don’t develop a nuclear weapon.” He honestly and blindly believes that if we become weak and powerless, destroy our weapons, they will play nice with us in the sand box. When the Libyan Ambassador was killed a few weeks ago, his administration apologized for an offensive non-governmental video that they alleged was responsible. Amazing isn’t it? Thousands of Americans are killed on 9-11, but we are to blame for “fear and anger” which “led us to act contrary to our ideals.” And when Muslims again attack our embassy and kill our people, we are to blame for an insensitive video.
This is a President who needs therapy – reality therapy!
We now have a nation led by a President who is at war with Christianity. Vote vertical.
